You really should be looking for help at forums.oscommerce.com

add the page_editor contribution. It's pretty simple to do, and will allow you to edit your front page as often as you want, and also add as many extra content pages as you want.

As far as asking at OSCommerce forums.. good luck! The community spirit just ain't much there.

Why that would that be the case? I thought OSC was Worlds Greatest Open Source cart.

Frankly I can't understand why so many post here looking for help with OSC, Yahoo Stores etc when active sites exist elsewhere to provide support for those carts.

I used to closely follow Mal's forums and that large group was vary helpful to newbies.

I'm a current Oscommerce user and I have had nothing but great help from the forum. Am there about 10+ hours a day LOL - always finding new tidbits to implement.

And if you have any questions concerning Oscommerce, including templates, use the Oscommerce forums!

If you go into /catalog/includes/languages/english/index.php - you can change your index page text there. For any text change, always go to the english files (and appropriate language files if you have more than one language on your site).

Securing the admin has been mentioned ad nausum at the forum also - search - it's easy to find.
