Building a Product Database

Looking to setup products in database

I have a website and store and I would like to setup my products in a database so when I need to changes products or info I can do it easily. Can anyone offer any help such as database programs, setting up and how to incorporate into a webpage/store.

You probably want to start looking for readymade shopping cart software, either hosted as a service or installed on your own server.

Most current packages offer database backends and have the added bonus of having been tried and tested by many people... something you would not benefit from if you developed this on your own.

Is there something specific that you're looking for in terms of features or functionality?
