Hi,

I used Paypal for about 4 years with no porblem and recently turned up my ebay sales of downloadable products (I've always sold these).

Paypal phoned me, viewed my ebay auctions and said they were going to freeze the account and said to fax them additional details. I was happy to do this, I've has 100+ feedbacks in the last 30 days and am a legit seller.

So I faxed them 10 pages of ID within 24 hours (full valid passport, drivers license, certificate of resale rights from the actual author of the eproducts etc).

They replied and said my account was high risk and now it's frozen. 5 mins of research showed me I wasn't the only one.

So I'm a UK seller and have a nochex account for UK payments. Question is, what do I use for accepting US dollars (I dont have a registered business or anything, I'm just an ebay seller with minor one button web sales).

This is driving me crazy and my ebay auctions are still live with people askin why they can no longer pay via paypal.

ANY help on this would be really appreciated.

Thanks,

Gav

Have you actually gone online to verify that your account was frozen? Have you contacted anyone directly at PayPal (or has all the contact been initiated by them)?

I'm sorry, but it sounds to me like you've just been scammed by people who just made off with a LOT of IDs!

1) As far as I know, PayPal never calls- they will send an e-mail to the primary account on record.
2) They should already have had most of the information you faxed to them.

I suggest you initiate contact with PayPal to see it was really them who contacted you. If not, then immediately contact your local police and file a report. I don't know what the law says there, but you should probably contact the people whose IDs you faxed and alert them that you may have exposed them to ID theft.

If this whole issue really was initated by PayPal, then I'm sorry for sounding a false alarm.

No no, it's for real. They called me and I showed the rep around my auctions and everything. He even asked if I'm in to any pyramid or MLM and I assured him no, and look at my auctions (I have about 40 auctions and each one has the same price) and so I explained the multiple payments.

Even if he wanted to check, he could just look at the detail in my account and click on the auction title within the actual paypal payment details.

Also, yes, they have been sending me emails as well as when I log in, I see the message my account has been limited.

It's real unfortunately. Any news on the new payment processors to go with is much appreciated.

Thanks for your replies!

Yes, got a different problem experience with paypal. My account has froze too and has to be charged some money, aside, from validation of account identity thru fax.

The problem is I am from Asia -- Philippines. In fact, there is no paypal that has been recognized in the Philippines. I just used my visa card to link with it.

With the payment they have deducted, I still haven't gotten confirmation if my account is now ready for use.

You can also check into Worldpay and 2CO. You also might check out Barclay's and HSBC

If you have a United States bank account, United States address, and United States phone number, there are some United States MAPs that will be able to support you as well.

The only time my account got frozen, was when I logged in from Thailand to check a payment. Automagic freeze...

Took 24 hours to get sorted.

Gav,

Nochex now accept Merchants from abroad. Not too sure whether they will process payments in USD. Might be worth a call though.
