let’s say I have an idea and all I need is a check out form that includes the obvious but one thing I do need is the date of birth for one or two people.

What is the best platform ?

WordPress and woo commerce is overkill so I’m thinking Shopify or something similar. Please let me know what you think. I just need a blog and a check out form. That includes the option for the buyer to include their date of birth. Thank you.

You could set up a simple checkout using any payment platform like PayPal or Venmo. These payments require an account so using the most widely accepted option would attract more customers. Any payment platform has a set of requirements for buyers and sellers. If you are using WP you can set up a form using a common plugin like Contact Form 7. The checkout is not on your site, the client is sent to the platform to checkout and returned to your site to complete the sale. The payment platforms have simple instructions on how to set it up.

For a period of time I used the PayPal platform for a simple checkout and was very satisfied. Something like that would be a good place to get started. Beauty was they didn't care how your website was set up as long as the form worked properly. :)

I think my initial post was misunderstood. I’m familiar w payment platforms but I think Wordpress is overkill for such a simple website. I know times have changed so I was wondering if anyone can recommend a PLATFORM to host the actual website. Need basics, blog, contact form, CHECKOUT form w DOB fields. Shopify doesn’t have the greatest support imo and Magento would be overkill. I haven’t checked w Godaddy yet. Any suggestions?

Check out Ecommerce Templates. You can build your own site or use one of their templates, a hosting partner, you can add custom fields to the checkout page, and they have numerous payment platforms already integrated into the software: PayPal, Authorize.net, Square, Stripe, VENMO and so many more Their support in fantastic. Available in both ASP and PHP.

i’m well familiar with e-commerce templates for WordPress, but as my note above suggested, WordPress would be overkilll for such a simple website. I’m looking for a turnkey provider that will include all of the latest trendy e-commerce options while not having to spend a lot of money on hosting.

I’m looking for suggestions for platforms or third-party turnkey products. Thank you.

WordPress might be overkill, but it is so dang simple to set up... Configured to minimum can also be lean, mean, and clean. Hosting, on the other hand, can be cheap, not so cheap, and mind-boggling.

Depending on the amount of traffic anticipated, cheap often works best.

OTOH, I'm not aware of any (or many) products as described.

The Charter: [webmasterworld.com...] can explain why there aren't any turnkey providers, platforms and vendors shared here. We don't offer such recommendations.

Start with a bootstrap theme and build your own. If you don't code yourself, tap into the freelancer market. That way you will get exactly what you want without compromise.

I recently completed such a product. I code a little I so built the basic structure. Then I hired freelancers for their specialty, like custom shopping cart using PayPal or Stripe. Authors can nominate their own card gateway or use the site gateway. The site includes product cover image designer and final output (all media) is uploaded to AWS cloud.

Finding the right coders can be a challenge.
