Has any one had this happen?

In the last year Ive had around 4 attempted frauds, 3 Ive beaten and one got away - They had around £10 in free gear.

Recently I sold and item for £11 - $15USD, received an email from the buyer going nuts (wheres my item?) he was claiming that it couldnt have been delivered as he didnt have a letter box, suggested that he should call at his neighbours and check.... He went mental demanding a refund, I don't have any neighbours google map showed otherwise. (refund request came at roughly the same time as the delivery...what a coincidence )

Fraud report issued - Further crazy emails and feedback blackmail.

Ebay comes down on my side.

Two days later he tries it again and leaves and awful Neg feedback.

Ebay again comes down in my favour.

I respond to the feedback, he replies and accidently admits that he has the item - Bit of a slip up there, Ebay removes the feedback

Today he is returning the item that he didn't have, I suspect it will be an empty box.

Has anyone here dealt with someone trying to do this? And did they win ? Ebay is aware that this guy has been lying though out the entire transaction

Well, it's theft, isn't it, and it's easy for them when it works. The risk is low as they aren't likely to get physically assaulted.

Good to know you're on-the-ball.

I've had some sellers claiming the items were sent, but eventually, they come back with a feeble excuse blaming others. Incompetence, perhaps. Thankfully, the feedback indicates issues.

I recently had the opposite problem: I bought a "New" item - a small air pump - and when it arrived I could see it was not new. I needed it so I decided to try to use it, but when I plugged it in, the thing made a loud buzzing sound and almost vibrated off the table. I could see stains on the cover, the instruction sheet was all wrinkled and the cord was kind of crunkled up, the rubber seal had gouges all around, not an unused item.

I contacted the seller and he went nuts. He sent me a rude, threatening message. I sent it back and received a refund but I'm not leaving feedback for exactly the problem you ran into. When he refunded, he wrote to tell me that I owed him return shipping or he would contact eBay. I told him to contact away and told him to share his incredibly rude response when he contacted them or I would. I have not heard back.

Yes, I should have left feedback but I did not want the hassle. I would be having your same experience with negative feedback. Oh, then I went to Amazon and got a nice, new (same model) pump that hums quietly and cost less.

I can understand your frustration though. I had a similar customer long years ago that claimed they did not order the two custom made tables. That experience ended up sending my transactions to an actual merchant processor (Authorize.net) and never had that problem again. I wish you luck in finishing with that buyer.

Enough so that I eventually worked with escrow third parties (selling rare musical instruments where a LOT of fraud and banditry can appear!).

7.5% was a bit steep, but guaranteed funds in hand (to escrow) means all sales complete. There's no specific platform, but there are a lot of them out there. You'll have to do your own research.

What's the matter with some people! Clearly, that buyer needs to be blacklisted.
Can you see if they're a slippery customer with others?

The case ended today,(again) all for £12 ($16). Ebay gave the buyer one more chance to ship the item back which he didn't, just chatted with Ebay rep and they agreed to shut it down.

What Ive found annoying that the buyer didn't send it back in the 14 day period, Ebay gave him another 5 days and allowed him to returned it 5 days late after the initial ending date for returns.

It seems to me they have done this before, and many companies just give up.

Well done on persevering and sorting it, despite the huge cost involved in doing that.

Just saw an email from eBay, although they have found in my favour they will refund the cheating so and so out of Ebay funds.

Never seen that happen before
