Save your Information with Paypal Problem

I have installed a shopping cart for a client using an Ecommercetemplate and everything is fine apart from one big problem. My client uses Paypal and when a transaction is completed and payment has been made Paypal offers the option to "Save your Information with Paypal". I selected this to see what it was for then clicked the "Cancel and Return to Merchant" button and the template returned a "Sorry, there seemed to be an error" message.

The transaction goes through without a problem if I click "Return to Merchant" immediately. It only happens after clicking Paypal's "Save your Information" option. Customers don't know if their purchase went through so this is obviously a major problem.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

That's a known PayPal bug. The "I'm sorry, an error occured" message is comming from your cart software, not PayPal, right? In that case, you might want to modify the cart to deal with the (lack of) data PP supplies owing to the bug.

I have been searching around for a fix for this and I have come across several others who have the same problem. No one has been able to find a fix and it has been going on for more than one year.

Paypal do not appear to be doing anything about it.
