Advice on footer usage

Hi All,

Just looking for some advice on if it's a good idea or not.

I've got an ecommerce site selling products and a nice gap in the footer which won't get in the way too much to run banner ads that will advertise other products through the site. I don't have header space for it and it's not critical if people miss it in the footer.

I don't really see any sites running internal banner ads but i also don't see the harm in it.

Anything i'm missing?

From an advertising point of view an ad in a footer will likely never be viewed as many users never get to the bottom of a page. Just sayin'!

Yeah that's why i was thinking it's a safe place to put it as i'm not reliant on getting sales from it and at the top on my site having a banner would be too much and distract from the main content.

So from your view it should do no harm but won't be seen much?

I'm not the best advice in this ... I left adsense YEARS AND YEARS ago. Went direct sales/servicing---so all the profits (and expense) go into my pocket and I don't have to share. :)

From that point of view I'd avoid it.
