Hi Everyone,

I am doing SEO for a custom eCommerce website and have a technical debate with the developers about technical issues. Here are the things I have discovered:

1. Pages crawled but not currently indexed.
2. All product pages have 2 URLs (Same like Shopify)
3. 2 URL format: 1 - Collections/collectionname/Product/productname 2 - product/productname
4. We are the official reseller of the products but used same product description from the main company website.

My developers said Shopify is following the same rule but I don't understand this as a SEO person, because if we have the same product page with 2 different URL that directly hit the website and duplicate content also plagiarize the product page.

Need your valuable input on this.

Thanks in advance :)

Pages crawled but not currently indexed

Did the developers put noindex in any of the pages or via the .htaccess file while developing the site and forget to remove it when the site went live?
All product pages have 2 URLs (Same like Shopify)

This needs to be fixed. The software you are using to run the site should only serve up 1 page for any of your pages. One way to fix this is using canonical urls (Google canonical url shopify if using Shopify) or tell the developers to fix the software.
URL format: 1 - Collections/collectionname/Product/productname 2 - product/productname

Like the product pages, this needs to be fixed.
used same product description from the main company website.

Bad. You and every other rep has the same description. Rewrite the descriptions so yours is unique.

1. Pages crawled but not currently indexed.

Do you mean the pages can't be found, or just not showing up in the top 10 (minus whatever g has on top) page?
2. All product pages have 2 URLs (Same like Shopify)

Does your site have the same clout as Shopify? Else resolve that issue as soon as possible!
3. 2 URL format: 1 - Collections/collectionname/Product/productname 2 - product/productname

Cake and Eat it Too does not work unless you're a $billion plus company.
4. We are the official reseller of the products but used same product description from the main company website.

And thus have nothing new to offer to the user ... that's g's mantra! Be unique and do not take the easy way of duplicate content. Which applies across the ENTIRE web, not just your web site!

Good luck!
