Taxonomy for products

Hi All,

I am working on a site (hobby of mine) that imports a data feed of products, that are currently categorized with Google's taxonomy.
I am not sure, if its feasible to create a custom taxonomy to replace Google's, so as an easy way out, could i just use the Google's taxonomy on a site? Could there be any implications of using the taxonomy on a site?

Curious, if anyone had to create a custom taxonomy for a data feed, that gets updated weekly. What was their solution?

Others with more experience than I with product taxonomy will chime in as many are interested in this aspect. Sadly, I don't have much use for it for the sites I own/manage.

So happy to have you join us ... and be patient! Most here are hard at work and an "instant" answer is not always possible.
