Should I use Linkpoint for a non-profit site?

I work for a small USA non-profit org, and we want to set up an way for people to donate money directly from our website. I've done some research and it seems that Linkpoint is a reliable merchant gateway service, but I'm concerned that they may charge too much. Being a non-profit, we want to make sure that as much of the donations people are kind enough to make actually go towards our organization.

I'm trying to stay away from Paypal and other such services that occasionally have "hiccups."

Can anyone offer any other suggestions or opinions of Linkpoint?

Thanks,
Melissa

Since you're in the U.S., if your donors are also in the U.S., you could check out Amazon.com's "Honor system". Donations to non-profits is one of the uses it's set up for. (The donor has to use a U.S. credit card.)

LinkPoint is only an electronic payment gateway. While it does not charge for transactions or to use their monthly recurring billing - you will still need a merchant account.

As long as you plan on doing $1,000 a month, a merchant account is a good choice. Paypal might also be an option. 2CO is not an option

We don't want people to have to navigate off of our website to donate $, because too many steps may discourage them from taking the time to complete the donation. Is there another solution (besides Amazon) that might offer a cheap solution we can imbed into our site?

Thanks,
Melissa

Well you would need a merchant account / electronic payment gateway.

It depends on what your version of cheap is? If you are doing more than $1,000 a month, a merchant accountis going to cost you about $50.00 - about 5%. The more you bring in of course, the cheaper it will be. It is all about volume of course
