Setting up ecommerce web site. It was easy to set up UPS as a shipping method. FedEx is another issue. The software for setting up the web site says that to begin "using FedEx rates calcalutors APIs you must complete a simple registration process." Have gone to the FedEx web site and can find nothing. Have talked to 3 people on the phone at FedEx and they have no clue what I am talking about.

I have an account number for FedEx since I use them.

Does anyone know what I am talking about?

Using Webeasy 6 Professional for software.

Thanks.

Did you check out www.fedex.com/us/solutions/shipapi/faq.html - do a search for API on their web site. I remember signing up with them a long time ago - and I think I just needed to register an account number.

I did the entire certification process last fall. I don't remember exactly, but I think you had to first send them an email and then they sent you a form to fill out. After returning the form, they returned your account number. You then needed to use the account number and get a "registration" number that is tied to your account and the location you will be running the software.

I was using my own software to integrate with their api so some of these steps may be taken care of in your software. I also ended up not using FedEx because of a bug in the api. When you have tiered shipping discounts, their xml api does not return the right rates. It is using a discount, but not the right one. This makes it impossible to get accurate rate estimates. Supposedly this was a known issue (not in any documentation) and I waited about 2 months for a fix before I finally gave up on FedEx.
