...today, Adobe announced that the company has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Magento Commerce, a market-leading platform for open commerce innovation.
...
Combined with Adobe Experience Cloud, the Magento Commerce Cloud will bring digital commerce, order management and business intelligence to enable both B2B and B2C shopping experiences across the customer journey.
...
The acquisition is expected to close in the third quarter, subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. Until the transaction closes, each company will continue to operate independently, and once the deal closes, we’ll be able to share more details about the integration plans and service offerings

Interesting news, I wonder how many around here use Magento for their projects. It's good, my first encounter was nice, I was impressed. Then for another project while so many features were a nice extra, not many were used, so I understand they cover mid to big business, it's ok, great actually. Then my last encounter was quite a surprise... it involved a 200MB download with sample data, 1/4 approx with no data, took quite a while to install. But sadly I had issues with it, and trying to fix it discovered a lot of people on forums having the same and other issues. Still, is quite impressive for complex online stores.

Perhaps is more a market move (and brand) because I bet Adobe could build something similar of better from scratch. Yet, as a market and brand move, there are many developers already with Magento.
