Where to put your Blog

Hi, I am going to create a new type blog, to generate interest in my site.

Question is where do I put it?

1) On the site itself, useful source of new content for visitors, changes for google ect.

2) External, say blog.com, Still useful content and would pass PR to my site as I can link to it.

What is normal practice?

What is normal practice?

I wouldn't really want to host any of my content on someone else's domain - you rely on them for the service. and if they get sold/change their URLs, you're stuck. Do you want to risk that?

3) On it's own domain - not a subdomain of a blog provider, but a unique domain for the blog itself.
