SEO regarding product descriptions

Hi,

I'm moving my pottery business from Etsy to a shopify domain. I'm fairly aware of good SEO practice, will be writing unique SEO titles, meta descriptions etc. I will also write a couple of paragraphs of unique description for each product.

The part that concerns me is I plan to have bullet points beneath the description for stuff like.

- Hand crafting makes every pot slightly different from image
- Heavy duty packaging for safe delivery
- Money back if you don't love them

There will be about 6 bullet points. I'm wondering about duplicate content issues. I'd rather not write different bullets for all products. I've read about blocking sections with robot.txt but I guess that won't be possible with shopify.

Maybe with only a small number of products - around 20 to start this won't be an issue?

Don't know if the redundancy is an issue for SEO or not but I do it. Sometimes that is exactly what it is. Since the other page content will be different, IMO you should be OK.

I agree with Keyplyr, and I would like to add, from user perspective I'm not sure that repeating the text you provide in your post as bullet points. If these features are the same for all the products this amounts, to boiler plate text. If a user navigates from one product to the next and for each they see these same text prominently displayed it will likely distract from the features that are unique the product. You may want to consider consolidating these feature under one clickable/collapsable bullet with some text "Every pieces of pottery includes the following" and then when the bullet is clicked it un-collapses and show your bullets.

But as explained by Keyplyr I doubt that showing these bullets will have any negative impact on SEO.

Thanks guys. A collapsible bullet would be good. I thought there may be some way of doing 'product specs' sections or something that only open when you click on them. I can only find the very basic WYSIWYG editor for description in shopify though. Maybe there's a plugin or something to do more. Maybe I'll just do it and send what happens.

There an app in shopify called tabbed descriptions I just found which seems it may do the job
