Bitcoin's value has jumped to a three year high of over $1,000.

Will we see greater trust in the cryptocurrency for 2017?

Bitcoin - a web-based "cryptocurrency" that has no central authority, relying instead on thousands of computers across the world that validate transactions and add new bitcoins to the system - jumped 2.5 percent to $1,022 on the Europe-based Bitstamp exchange, its highest since December 2013. Personally, I don't see Bitcoin ever being stable, so long as there are people trying to mine it. It's demand and interest that will drive prices. I think most of us will have dabbled with mining Bitcoin at some point, but now that so many users are moving away from desktops to handhelds there are only it may actually get slightly easier, although I still think the only people who will generate serious money are those running data centres full of mining machines.
