Just read an article in Internet Retailer called "retailers unite! Counter divide and-conguer tactics on online sales tax". Congress is trying to pass a sales tax bill that Amazon supports. If the bill ever passes then you will have to pay for expensive software to comply with 10,000 taxing jurisdictions.

I like the origin based approach. Unfortunately, I think Amazon, Walmart, etc. will get their way...too much money for these software companies providing the software for small businesses and better for the larger companies competing against smaller merchants. These large companies have a ton of lobbying power.
