How are your E-Commerce Sales Doing?

2016 is shaping up to be a dud, IMHO

Wow, this year sucks... I'm seeing 2013 revenue levels. 2014 was incredible. 2015 was "OK". 2016 is no good.

Retail sales on my site are riding a roller coaster. Up, down, Up, down, but overall revenue is trending down. Its not just a Google thing. All traffic sources are in decline. Average order size, now that's an interesting one. The average order size has really declined. A sure sign of a tentative consumer, IMHO.

I'm doing my taxes right now. One item that I just entered was my self employed family health insurance. Wow, those costs have risen 52% for me over the last three years. I know gas is cheaper, but it doesn't compensate for health care costs that are rising that rapidly.

I'm curious what others think? Has the consumer slowed spend or is it just me?

It is the economy for many of us ... and as you note, disposable income is down across the board. The rest are waiting for the stock market to crash (which will come around pretty soon, I think).

Yep... I already posted about this. Very crap. Better than the first month or so now, but already well below last year, and I doubt I will make that up. The part I don't get, is that last year was a breeze. No problems, steady flow. Then as soon as the new year came, it was like somebody just hit a switch. I don't understand why the new calendar year would factor into anything so significantly, to create such a drastic change overnight.

Not eCo but on the B2B side of my business I am seeing a definite cutback in spend by my customers since last April.

I sell to both consumers and businesses. The reduction of business spend has been particularly hard on us.

The site I'm helping with is up now 3rd year running since we started helping with SEO. It had poor SEO but we got to the point that I thought we had squeezed all we could out of the regional market but sales/traffic has been rising with steady traffic. Its based in Europe and I think the slow market recovery is helping...

Where I work, there were never many sales through the website. That's why I got my job! After implementing the basic SEO the traffic and sales uplifted significantly but still nothing major. It's usually a quiet time of year for us now, but with these mysterious algo changes and traffic fluctuations sales have dropped a bit. Coincidence or just the time of year? I don't know and it's pretty annoying!
