I was sitting down, doing a bunch of ordering from A today. Things have been a bit tight this summer, so I found myself being a little more fussy with prices than normal. To my surprise, I started noticing that a lot of the routine items I have ordered in the past, now had prices that were equal to, or higher, than store prices. Some significantly higher. And I don't mean bargain basement discount stores... I'm talking, the top range stores in nice neighborhoods. I would say this was the case for about 1/3 of the things I was going to order. This makes me ask myself... Why am I ordering this stuff online? Sure, it's a convenience thing, and time is money. But still... In my mind, when it comes to expendable items... I'm either getting it all online, or I'm not. Dividing between the two is confusing. If there isn't a significant difference online, I may as well just go to a store. I'm wondering what the thinking is here. Are A and sellers maybe taking advantage a bit? Are they thinking that buyers are doing like I did in the past, and just ASSUMING the price I was getting was still good, without actually checking?
