How long to do you keep your visitors cart active, so that when they return the cart is already populated?
7, 30, 60 days? A year?
Thanks

We keep them 48 hours. Maybe too short a time? But a year .... really? My cart folder would be a mess!

depends on the type of products the system is designed for. our *norm* is 14 days max
prices of products do change (usually), so ensure you have incorporated a system to let the customer know that the price of any affected items in their cart has increased/decreased.

A major consideration is likely to be if the act of putting an item in your cart causes your inventory count to decrease by one--ie item is 'reserved' pending shopper's checkout. Especially for expensive products, you don't want other potential buyers told you're out of stock, when some items are only temporarily 'reserved' in others' carts.
Apart from that, price changes and going out of stock make longer periods sound like an admin headache. I sell digital goods, so no stock problems, and the prices in carts update realtime when changed, so a year works for us.

There are issues raised here that I had never even considered, thank you.
The items are our own design and manufacture, so we have no inventory issues, no price changes to consider, they are not expensive and there isn’t much to think about when purchasing. Either you think you need it, or you don’t.
I think I should allow an umm and ahh period, but after that if it has not been purchased, I don’t think it will be.
