P@ypal Gift Certificate Problem

I hope I'm not stepping on any rules by posting this here. If so, Mods please drop this and let me know so I don't do it again.
This morning P@ypal dropped both of my outstanding Gift Certificates (I set up their links on my site in December and sold a few) to the tune of a few hundred dollars. They were cryptic in the email to me and just the same (almost evasive) to my questions after. They claim they processed a "batch of cancellations due to payment problems". Well, one of my buyers just emailed to ask what happened, said her card was charged a while back and wants to know what's going on because she received a similarly cryptic email. I think P@ypal screwed up or wants to bail on the program or something.
They've banked how much by playing the float on this? A few dollars from my customers times how many customers over the holiday season? Has this happened to you or anyone you know? Is there a way to get a straight answer out of them about it?

Tried several email exchanges with one evasive Rep. Today I had more details that called them out on the floor and my issue has been passed up to her boss for review. The status of the certificates mysteriously changed in my account from cancelled to reversed.

Reversed didn't mean I got anything back. I still don't know what's up. Supposedly, I will hear back from the Rep's Boss about this.
