How Long To Run Website Marketing/Advertising Campaign?

Hi,

I was wondering how long do you usually let your website marketing/advertising campaigns run for to collect enough data to see if that certain marketing/advertising method is working for your website?

I'm guessing running for only a couple of days or a week; wouldn't give me a good gauge as to whether a marketing/advertising campaign is resulting in a good ROI. Maybe a month? 2 months? 3 months? etc.?

Traffic volume is a better range than time.

But you're asking a broad question - a few specific keywords being tested with PPC, versus how well a new site topic / concept should be run before abandoning it... more specific question please?
