In what is becoming a routine move, the company said today during its second-quarter earnings release that it is now expecting eBay and PayPal mobile to each transact $10 billion in volume this year.

“That’s more than double 2011,” said eBay’s CEO John Donahoe, who called it “a staggering surge” in mobile commerce that did not exist just a few years ago.

Double from not much is easy to do.

But I do think that mobile is increasing, mainly due to the fact that many young ones these days have a smart phone and don't use laptops or notebooks as much as they used to.

But you do have to hand it to JD, a couple of years ago he did predict that mobile would be big.

Its just that many are predicting that the rest of ebay is going to fall down round his ears in the next few quarters, as he tries to copy Amazon.
