These are the merchant account rates for HSBC in, of all places Hong Kong.

Set-up charge: US$ 1280
Annual fee: US$ 1280
transaction charge: varies from 3.5% to 5.5%
Unmovable deposit: US$64100

Can somebody tell me what are the HSBC rates in the UK, US, and other countries. These seems incredibly steep to me.

If these are the real rates, you are better off using a third party processing solution!

I have no clue what the set up fee of HSBC Bank in the U.K. is, I guess it is around 500 to 750 GBP, but I certainly know that the processing rate is a lot lower, probably around 2 - 2.5%.

It does seem steep.

I thought that banks implied higher charges on 'Risky' Countries, but I defiantely wouldn't put Hong Kong in that list.

I don't know the price here n the UK, but I'm guessing its much lower, since you can get other merchant accounts fo less form other well know banks (lloyds, barclays, abbey).

I don't know if it makes any difference, but Hong Kong is officially part of China. If a bank sets rates specifically by country, that could affect things. If the bank tailors rates for specific circumstances, you'd think it would set a separate rate for Hong Kong.

I'm pretty sure that Hong Kong would be classed seperately to China, but I wouldn't be sure.
