Debt Collection Agency - Info?

Hi,

Has anyone ever used a debt collection agency to receive funds for an order where you can't capture the payment yourself?

I have this order where I contacted the customer numerous times, and also sent him a PayPal invoice but haven't received a response from him. The amount for the order is around $140 which isn't that much; do any debt collection agencies deal with amounts this small?

Also, can anyone recommend any UK debt collection agencies that you know of?

I have done this more than a dozen times. Here in Germany there are several debt collection agencies where you simply go to their website, open an account and bulk upload the data for collection. They only charge fees when the customer pays.

Perhaps there are debt collection agencies like that in the UK, too which only charge when succesful.

However the success rate with debt collection agencies was not very high. Now I go to small claims court immediatly.

I did do a search online for some UK debt collection agencies and I found some websites listed, but should I look for debt collection agencies that are close to the city of the customer or does the location not matter?

Also, what is the process that you go through for small claims? Does this work if the customer is in another country? I've never done this before, but I wonder if this is even an option for me since I'm based in the US and the customer is located in the UK.
