When I visit PayPal, I get this error message:

"We are sorry that we are experiencing temporary
difficulties. Please try again later.

Message 3005"

This only happens when I try to view in Opera. When I switch my UA over to IE, it works fine. Is anyone else seeing this?

EDIT: Of course, it goes away right after I post. It was like that for about 5 minutes at least.

[webmasterworld.com...]

just search for "3005 error" there are a bunch of complaints... I don't think it has anything to do with Opera. I could be wrong, though.

Honestly, it only happened with Opera. I immediately checked IE, and it was fine. Weirdest thing...

I get the Paypal log in page, but Opera 7.21 is aborted to error number 3014, something about cookies after I log in.

Also, while IE6 takes about 20 seconds to load the page that shouldn't take over 5 seconds to load, the aborted Opera attempt is well under 5 seconds.

Firefox loaded in less time than IE took and was successful.

I have identified myself as Opera, IE6 and Mozilla 5, and also gone in and accepted every kind of cookie there is and it still gets 3014.

Apparently it's a paypal-opera compatibility issue.

I used to get this error all the time, mostly in Firefox or Opera. I think it has something to do with the way paypal handles it's login pages. Sometimes it would go hours giving the same error, and sometimes I could immediately refresh the page and it would work.

It appears to be one of those paypal bugs that will never be worked out, much like many of the bugs on ebay...
