How do you manage your product inventory data?

We have about 500 SKUs. For each SKU we have dozens of fields of data ranging from things like cost, price, and shipping weight to things like eBay Titles and Tarriff codes.

Right now we have this all organized into a simple excel workbook. It does the trick but it doesn't give a lot of options for manipulating and playing with the data.

What does everyone else use here?

We use Microsoft Retail Management System (now called Dynamics POS). We have 1400 SKU's, and it allows us to track simple items, items with parent/child relations, variations (matrix items), kits, and serialized items like gift cards.

It also supports back-stock (e.g. warehouse), which we use to track our suppliers' inventory.

Can't you use your accounting system for this? 500 is not many skus. We have about 1000. We also have SQL server database that serves as the central point for datafeeds and inventory management for our website, eBay, and Amazon.
