Do online retailers set up mirror accounts on eBay?

Is there any point in doing this? Is it good for marketing?

I think a lot of sellers do but not necessarily a mirror site. Some will use it to get rid of excess stock / hard to move items from their regular store. It also provides another channel and a way to get your products to a wider audience.

As a buyer I notice the products are often sold with a mark up on ebay to cover their higher fees in respect to their regular online store.

There are lot of retailers who are not dealing with Ebay right now. Because of many competitors, they usually not taking good care of your account.
