One of my clients has an idea to use his proprietary shopping cart system (with an SSL and PCI complaint) to allow small stores and restaurants that do not have e commerce, to pay a yearly fee to use his shopping system.
Each store gets their own subdomain (storeA.whatever.com) and their customers would be directed to that to order their gift card. They would fill out the order info and checkout. The store owner gets an email letting him know he has an order, he then logs in and retrieves the order and processes the card info himself and them mails out the gift card directly to the customer.
So basically its just a shared cart system that does not process any of the transaction. Tax should not be an issue since there is no tax charged on gift cards anyway.
Do any of you see any major problems with this idea?
Thanks for your ideas.
