customers sending payments directly to our paypal via email

on one of our sites we offer paypal as an option for payment via a button. it's integrated with our order system and works ok although it's not a preferred method.

lately customers have been circumventing our payment button flow and sending payments directly to our paypal email (not published). I don't understand why, anyone else using paypal having this problem?

(I know, I know, having people send you money is generally not a problem!)

I have it happen once in a while. Usually on invoice requests. I always assume they had some issue with doing it the other way and tried doing it directly to see if that worked. I don't know why they wouldn't use the buttons though. Unless it's a reoccurring payment or something. Maybe ask one of them.
