Does PayPal notify subscribers of pending renewals?

When someone establishes a subscription payment plan via PayPal, for an annual subscription payment for example, does PayPal notify the subscriber of a pending payment a few days before the renewal payment is due?

I don't think so. This would be a great feature for PayPal to add, but I'm not holding my breath, as their attention seems to be focused 100% on mobile stuff right now.
