Hello,
New to this forum and little stretched for time to do a search so was wondering if someone could help?

I am from Australia and am about to embark on a business that may include online retailing for a wholesaler that is prepared to dropship. I don't know the wholesaler yet because I still haven't decided the products. But before I do this I need to know what a US wholesaler would expect from me (being an australian business) in the way of licenses or tax ID's etc. I don't know if it is possible for an Australian business to have a US tax ID or Sales tax number, which I believe a US retailer is required to have.

Can anyone help in this matter and if not, could anyone point me in the direction of someone that could?

Great Help
Dean

As an Australian business your tax jurisdiction is not in the United States. If your online presence is in Australia then you'll have to answer to Australian bureaucrats. The US wholesaler will be able to take care of their jurisdiction, and give you a precise accounting of the specifics you mention.

Hi,

I am a supplier of area rugs, located in Canada, having most customers and dropshippers in US. I usually require tax ID but if my dropshippers do not have it, I do not mind, I can work without it. Speaking for myself, though...
