Mobile and Ecommerce

Hi, I run an ecommerce shop that garners about 50,000 unique visitors and about 2,000 sales a month. With all the news on shoppers using mobile technologies, I'm wondering if it would benefit my shop seeing that we're fairly small.

I don't want to be behind the curve but not sure if it's worth investing in this if it won't result in a net benefit.

Thanks!

I think the main issue is whether your products lend themselves to m-commerce. A lot of people jumping on the m-commerce bandwagon are going to forget the lessons on the 1990s e-commerce bandwagon.

Are they going to use m-commerce to decide to buy movie tickets when they get to the theater and see how long the line is? Probably.

Are they going to use m-commerce to buy a CD that includes a song they just heard on the radio (or more likely, just buy that song)? Probably.

Will they use m-commerce to buy a 50% off coupon for a restaurant that they're standing in front of, trying to decide where to eat? Probably.

Are people going use m-commerce to buy TVs or other big ticket items that normally require some research? I don't really think so. (But, they MAY go online and check the online price while they're standing in the store looking at the off-line price. If it's cheaper, they may opt to buy it through their phone instead of in the store.)
