Social Security Verification (number) Checks

Hi All,

I have had a lot of problems with fraud originating from the US in the past and have stopped taking orders from US clients. However, understandably I cannot ignore this vast market due to a few bad apples and am considering starting to accept US clients again with more stringent security checks.

I’d like, however, to start doing social security verification (number checks) on our US clients – at first glance these type of checks do appear expensive, in fact a fee of $7 is already prohibitively expensive for our profit margins however given that we will need to do a lot of searches per week (over a 1000 checks per week) I hope to get this checking fee considerably down.

I’d like to ask you all if you know of any such services (I’m aware of sentrylink and intelius) offering mass searches/multiple checks!? The type of services I’m looking for is the ones who service big payment companies such as paypal, neteller…etc

Any help would be appreciated.

I suspect you'd have a hard time convincing your customers to provide their SSN's unless it was some very unusual product. I know I would never provide it on the internet to anyone. (The obvious exception: when its required by law for tax reasons such as with Google's Adsense program.)

It is very much a service in demand - I'm aware that this might result in a certain number of drop-outs but frankly I can live with this as our company has been a magnet for fraudsters in the past. This time I intend to make use of both AVS and Social Security Number Verification - any other suggestions of companies providing bulk checking services are welcome (I'm speaking of about around 1000 checks a week just as a start going up to many thousands in the near future)
