Hi, I am new to this forum and also new to E-commerce.
I recently launched a new e-commerce site. My site is showing up in Yahoo.shopping and also under Yahoo search
engine. I have yet to get any results from Google. My site has been submitted to Google and various other free
search engines. I am concerned that I have been placed in the "sandbox" (if it really exists). How long should it take to be "found"? How can I check the status? And finally, is there anything I can do about it?
Thank you so much for your assistance. Sorry, I do not know all the "Lingo" yet.
THANKS

It could take anywhere from one day to eight months to get listed. The more sites that you have with links pointing to yours, the better

Unfortunately, yes, the Sandbox does exist, however, you could search on your business name or website URL to see if your website already has been indexed.

Secondly, don't focus on Google too much in the beginning. Just make sure you have good content, aimed at the right keywords (Wordtracker is recommended!) for your niche market and that your html-code is optimized for those words as well and promote your site in other ways i.e. AdWords.

If you deliver good content, people will automatically link back to your website. Reciprocal linking is still done occassionally, however, I personally believe it's a waste of time.

If you really want to get a head start, sign up with a professional search engine optimization company or teach yourself how to do it by signing up with webmaster newsletters, i.e. High Rankings and WebProWorld.

Good luck!
