Just wondering how everyones sales are doing so far in August. I'm getting the same amount of traffic, but sales have fallen off a cliff. August is generally slow for my niche, but this far far slower than in past years.

That's why they call it "summer vacation"... In most venues this time of year is slow... though falling off a cliff is not that common. Describe the cliff. :)

This time of year is slow for me. This past July was about 15% less than last July. So far this August is still very slow but better than last August. This time of year I try to focus on other things, like writing, designing new stuff, sitework, blogging, working in the garden, and preparing for winter.

Overall, this time of year has been much better this year than last for me. But I added numerous new products and I think the climate is better this year than last. But I've still noticed an overall slowdown the last month or so. But not terrible, and pretty much normal for vacation time. My theory is that, because many people might be a little more relaxed this year, there may have been more vacationing. I know people that still aren't doing great, but still decided to take a vacation anyway, because they're sick of sitting at home.

I've been selling online since 1996, in past summers sales have always dropped, but traffic would always be down a corresponding amount. This year's different, traffic is average for the year, but the sales are down. It might be that they can now log on where ever they are because of cell phones, WIFI etc., but have blown the wad on vacation costs.
