Hi,

I was just wondering, can the functionality of a website be patentable if there is no other website that has this same functionality on the web?

Thank you,

That's what patent attorney's can tell you.
I think all of here are just armchair lawyers.

But I would suspect this link [proforozco.com] will be good reading for you.

Some historical reading about the Apple vs. Microsoft GUI Lawsuit might also be useful.

The Amazon "one click patent" [google.com...] comes to mind.

Have you been to the USPTO web site, if you're in the U.S.? Once can **probably** get through a trademark on their own (I did,) but a patent will always require a lawyer. You can, however, look through the documentation there to see if you have a shot before hiring one.
