software to sell multiple subscriptions?

Any suggestions? I'm looking for an app that'll allow my client to sell their various digital magazines as individual subscriptions as well as books (non-subscription digital content) thru one store front. Be nice if it could also convert their documents on upload to something that can be streamed (i.e. flash) to make it harder to steal.

Also, they've got their own linux server, and I'd like to host the application there.

This really sounds like a custom app job.
There are people who have the ability to do this without breaking the bank.

Thanks for the input! I actually wouldn't mind building it, it could be a worthwhile project. But if someones already put together something nice, I'd be happy to pay them for it, and pass the cost/time savings on to my client.
