The last time we looked at geotargeting was in 2003. Back then, Canadian AOL traffic was misreported as US traffic, so the accuracy of geotargeting was around 98%
I just checked into this the other day, and now the Geotargeting services are claiming numbers around 99.8% accuracy.
I took a look at traffic by ISP in my logs and AOL accounts for 0.09%, so they are no longer a factor when determining geolocation.
I knew AOL was in a death spiral over the past few years, but I had no ideal they have virtually flat-lined.
The remaining small percentage is probably due to anonymous proxy servers. Since our products don't instill paranoia, I expect that number to be quite low.
Is everybody else seeing extremely low numbers for AOL ?
