Has anybody noticed an increase in PayPal problems lately? After having virtually no problems for years, now all of the sudden there's problems. In the last couple months I've had people say the system is trying to force them to start an account. They claim they went through the 'non member' part, but it still flat out tries to force them to start an account and won't process the payment without that. I've called them three times now and they give me a load about it being something on that person's end, and they can't tell me what it is. All of the people effected so far seem to be upstanding customers. Are they just going to start randomly harassing people now?

That certainly isn't new. PP has always tried to force me to open an account when I have tried to buy from a site that uses it. These days I just hit the back button and buy from somebody who uses a "proper" processor instead. Your customers will probably start doing the same.

Well, two thirds of these people actually wanted to use PP, because they were out of the US. That's the part I don't get. One guy said he had just bought stuff through PP earlier that day. I'm not talking about them 'requesting' if you want to open an account. I'm talking about flat out saying they will not do a card transaction without them starting an account, or putting up some weird message like "your guest account has expired... Please open a new account". That is not supposed to be happening. I searched today and found a message on a developer forum where some guy said he had numerous customers get that message.
