I have created a website for a client within Wordpress and now he wants to start selling tours from his website.

He is looking for a payment processor to take deposits and then to receive full payment.

I have no experience of integrating ecommerce with Wordpress and was wondering what kind of solutions would be recommended.

Any ideas gratefully received!

There are at least a 3 different ways you could do this but you'll need to chose one that a) fits the need, and 2) fits your abilities.

The easiest thing to do would be to set up a PayPal account and choose one of their payment options. Then you build your product pages and add the Buy Now button on each.

The next level would involve locating and installing a payment plugin and building the pages yourself again using a Buy Now button.

The next level would could be a off-the-shelf catalog and cart package - we've talked about many of them [google.com] here in the Ecom forums.

i recently changed carts, after doing extensive research.

there was one i decided not to use because importing my 5,000+ products was beyond what this cart was built for, but i suggest you add Ecwid to your list of things you're evaluating - it seems perfect for blog integration to me (as long as you don't have a grunch load of products you need to import).

it's an ajax cart and is simple to add on the fly to existing sites.

Thanks for these. Can't use Paypal as the clients bank account is in a country where they dont transfer money.

My guess is they need to get a merchant account for credit card processing from a local bank and then some kind of simple payment plugin. There are only about 5 or 6 products so a full scale cart is probably not required.

Does anyone know how easy it is to take a deposit and then charging the full amount later?

Do most shopping cart/integration with payment processors use ssl technology or do we need to pay for that seperately?
