Take any country and you will find that most people have no idea of how much something costs unless it is marked in their own currency.

Don't expect much response unless you can also state your prices in US$

At a minimum, you can publish a link to an online currency converter. Are you set up to receive US Dollars, or would customers have to pay the bank conversion rate for sterling pounds?

I am not set up to recieve us dollars.

I was thinking of maybe having a link for a us version of the site and all prices to be in $$$

Can i use nochex or paypal to accept us dollars im living in the uk?

thanks guys

I think linking for a us version of the site might work nicely. However you can also look for a joint ventures with usa based company who are interested for uk market.

I think paypal is good as compare to nochex.

What cart, Merchant account, and gateway are you using?

Its possible your existing setup would be able to take USD payments - most banks and gateways offer multi-currency transactions (so you can charge in USD), it depends if your cart can handle it.
