massive latency and DNS issues

Majority of people i know on volusion have seen traffic and conversions dip by 40% in the past 3 days. Sad part is the traffic is technically there, it just cant get to the sites. So, they are paying for PPC and other ads and the traffic is hitting a dead end.

this biz owner that i know called me last week, we're old friends. he said he asked his tech guys for a brief summary of their current malady, they wrote back "VDC=1x9". he was calling me to ask what his own guys meant. i did some googling to learn V has moved away from rackspace, to their own hosting, via the Volusion Data Center, the "VDC" part of the equation. 1x9 is an expression, pronounced "one by nine" - in process management, it means you are between 90% and 98% under control, as in... there's only one nine in their uptime number. most people are looking for at least 99.9% uptime, 3 nines. when you've got only one 9, it'd specturdular.

tell them to check their DNS for something wrong regarding their dns setup.

but i think (and truly hope) this is a problem with the vdc that V is working to resolve.
