Im currently doing a project for a doctor who sells only one product. So we set up a paypal business account so he could just use them to get payments and the payments go to his bank using the buy now button. Problem is, he needs an email sent to the actual company that will fullfill the orders, but still let him recieve the payment invoices.

In other words he doesnt want the outside company accessing his paypal account but needs to somehow make paypal send them a notice that someone needs the product. Is there a simple way of doing this? I know how to make the button and then copy it to the website but is there options in paypal to send orders to two different places?

Thanks for helping if you can!

If you are just using the buy now buttons your options are quite limited. Paypay does offer a lot of merchant took that allow you to integrate the Paypal service into your site. You could then have the website sent the email to the supplier once the payment has been successful. Paypal IPN might be worth looking into. There are also some sample scripts on the Paypal site to give you some ideas.

I swear I've looked all over paypal and can't find this. I thought about the IPN stuff but isn't that just a comfirm type notice to the person buying that their payment went through?

He can't just forward the orders at the end of the day? There's going to be times he's going to need to do other stuff anyway... Like clearing unconfirmed addresses and other things. If he's trying to make it so he doesn't have to do anything at all, I don't see how that will happen. Whenever people try that, it usually leads to problems.

No IPN (instant payment notification) is a method of communication between your website and the paypal service. As an example if you offer a download the customer places an order, he/she gets sent to paypal to make payment and when the payment goes through paypal lets your server know and this triggers the download. It lets customers get access to the product right away.

The download was just an example, you could easily set up a system to send an email when the payment goes through.

gotcha. I've been looking into the IPN a little more while waiting for responses. I found this generator site that makes the code for you, so Im going to test it. Wish me luck...I may be back though :(
