Has anyone gone through the process of getting BBB (Better Business Bureau) Acreditation for your site?
Is the process pretty straight forward, or is it a pain to go through?
Thank you,

Did you look at how much they charge? Mine wanted $3000.

We have it on our site. The cost was 500/year. I guess the cost might depend on area? The people came out for a visit, we took them to lunch, they are very nice folks. Basically they just want to make sure your store/site is legit.

"Mine wanted $3000"
That doesn't make sense unless you have hundreds of employees. As I understand the process one must first be a member of their local BBB and then pay extra for the online accreditation so you can post the seal on your site.
At least that's the way it used to work.
Recently had someone phone me and say I could do both for something like $400. It's based on number of employees (at least it is in our area) and I'm not sure she was doing the math correctly. We have an "A" rating but I figure joining would probably take us to "A+" and allow us to post that.

Just now I went back and checked. I found out that I entered the zipcode for the number of locations, lol! I wish I really had that number of locations. It gave me a result of $450.

Hilarious.
I'm guessing you'll be getting a barrage of BBB sales reps calling on you, thinking you have a 5-figure number of locations or employees.
Does anyone know whether BBBs have lowered their Online Accreditation rates lately? I know that each chapter is somewhat autonomous. Some may be cheaper than others. The rate I was recently quoted was much less than a few years ago.

Ok, at first when I saw $3,000 I thought the BBB were out of their minds, but $450 sounds a lot better! ;-)

BBB is far too expensive for what they offer, in my opinion. Unless you are selling something that requires tons of trust (really expensive stuff perhaps) I would not recommend BBB. If you have deep pockets, I suppose it would not matter either. ;)
