My site ships nationwide and the items we sell would do very well on Craigs List. Has anyone advertised there? It seems like the most effective method might be to manually post ads in different cities until they get flagged and removed, but I don't want to go that route. Their terms of service seem somewhat vague. Ads can't contain "unsolicited commercial advertisement". Does that mean only individuals can post ads and not businesses?

Not too hard to figure out. Just post a free ad. Why not experiment in your area first and see if it works for you? Nobody there really cares if your ad is unsolicited, I guarantee it.

Shipping does not work. Can't get into all the details, but its set up for local looky loos and in person sales, and people who just plain want to give you a hard time and then want discounts for the 'trip over' etc.

The clientele is just not savvy enough to follow through on a regular transaction. Try it and you will see what I mean. Including a link to your site if it is professional may help weed out most of the flakers, but the ads expire after 7 days and quickly move off the list, so you have to keep posting. Many local stores do this if they are located in a densely populated area.

Once again, nobody remembers you or your ad. They don't care if your ad stays or goes. If they don't like the look or your ad they will flag you off. They don't care about that either. No legal action will be taken against you.

There's lots of scamming going on there as well... Lots of foreign scammers trying to get people. It's fine for personal one-offs, but it's kind of a wasteland. You would know best, but I would worry that my rep would be dinged doing business on there.
