Wholesaler (B2B) Account Setup Process?

Hi,

I was wondering for people who allow wholesaler (b2b) accounts on their ecommerce site(s); what is the basic wholesaler (b2b) account setup process you perform for new wholesale (b2b) accounts?

Would these be the basic wholesaler (b2b) account setup steps? Any steps I'm missing?

1. Send potential wholesaler an application to fill and submit back to you.
a. Include different payment terms/options on application (COD, Credit Terms, Credit Card).
b. Ask for a valid reseller certificate on application.
c. Ask for bank account/credit references.
d. Ask for copy of driver's license / credit card.
e. Ask to list all business partners that have an interest in the company.
f. Etc...

2. Check/call bank account/credit references listed on the wholesaler application.

3. Perform a credit check based on information provided on the application.

4. Approve/Deny the wholesaler application based on the information provided.

Does anyone know of any website that has example wholesaler (b2b) applications I can take a look at?

Thank you,

Well, I've been in business 10 years and no one has ever asked me for this much information. I think one time I have been asked for a bank reference. I have been asked for a reseller certificate, but that should only be if the would-be buyer is in the same state. What I have seen more is a two-step process. If you want credit terms, then there is a separate application to fill out. If not, it's pretty much like a regular cart except for people who want the reseller cert for in-state. I've dealt with only one company that offered COD; they were huge, but they didn't take credit cards. Guess it depends on what you are selling.

Hi,

Yes, I agree with you that it is a lot of information to ask for.

I was just going off some of the wholesaler applications I had to fill out for myself. They pretty much all asked for the above information - plus more; which I always thought was a little too much for a wholesaler application.

Thanks,
