as a web developer who has run both for clients, let me say I loved Clickcart pro for its great features and built in controls; but ran into serious support issues that ended up costing the client over 4x the purchase price and 1 year of asking for help before a serious problem with the cart processing was solved.
Then I started using XCart; the price seems reasonable and the features and thirdparty
google.com clickcartpro about 46,900 for ClickCartPro vs
google.com xcart about 105,000,000 for XCart
X-Cart was good until we started asking for support. Every email costs so many support credits. Support started inching the cost up very high. One installation paid over $700 in support costs just to get the main features all working; another wanted the pro store version and the up front costs were $995 and the support cost ran over $600; All of it worked and then started the constant stream of security upgrades. One upgrade like oscommerce upgrade wiped out all customization and forced rebuilding the site. Plus, communication to Russia may be 'affordable' but what should take a quick phone call to resolve takes sometimes three weeks and all communications is by email.
Thus, for the most recent clients I have moved to a SaaS solution which has all the normal whistles and bells plus all the expected customization and cosmetic control, but even other features neither cart supplies. And the best part is there is never a worry about having to upgrade the software. The cart I have found to be very easy to set up use and fulfill is 3DCart. It is truly a webmaster's friend.
I have found no problems so far with the installs on 3D Cart.

As for 3D cart, I've never used it. It looks okay on the surface, but I don't like hosted solutions.
