Should you make e-com URL's search engine friendly

Hi

Often come across this issue of whether to advise e-com should have the e-com string converted into a search engine friendly, will the page be found and indexed regardless. I thinking more for individual pages for each product and getting that indexed.

Absolutely, it can only help as long as you don't make the URL too long and that the keywords relate to the content on the page.

Yes, for any e-commerce site I work on it's near the top of my list.

Like Rugles mentioned, as long as you don't make the URL too long and it's consistent with the page content, search engine friendly URL's both look more professional and in my opinion carry some SEO weight.

I also try to make it people friendly too, so that people can easily remember the url (helpful for web-savvy people, or customer service agents giving the url out over the phone).

For example, these kind of easy url's to remember

apple.com/iphone
apple.com/imac
apple.com/contact
