So many shopping carts, so little time.

Whats your favorite SEO friendly cart product?

A client of mine asked me "what is the best shopping cart for SEO, ease of use, ease of setup, & flexible ship options". Across the web I have found literally thousands of cart software and services all claiming to be the best. Can someone help me cut through the muck?

I'd take a serious look at eCommerce Templates. Not free, but not expensive and incredibly flexible. Their support is second to none.

Does the client want to install the cart on his/her own site, or use a hosted solution?

I've been seriously evaluating several hosted carts for one of my clients. All of them do well with basic SEO (product-specific meta tags, search engine-friendly urls, etc). For ease of use, value (features for the money), and so on, I like CoreCommerce, which is the hosted version of DigiShop. For ease of use, Pinnacle Cart is very good.

The StomperNet folks (working with ClaimtheWeb) are also introducing a hosted cart called StomperCommerce, which looks very promising. Search engine optimized, with lots of added modules.

PHP based cart, X-Cart seems to be definite solution.

We have never used the same, but found few competitors (friends), using this system to best
(there technical support,(if you have big bucks) seems to support best.

My personal experience.

eCommerce Templates was a fantastic cart. It has issues though, just minor quirks that you have to learn to live with. Was not great with SEO. It did work well, was flexible, many mods available, reasonable price and well suited for an operation that is smaller.

aspdotnetstorefront is a fantastic cart. Very robust, very flexible, very powerful. It also is a little costly. It is second to none IMO with regards to SEO

either of those two would serve you well

Hi, I'm looking for a shopping cart for e-books and MP3 downloads. The system must accept credits cards, PayPal and bank transfer and must be top SE friendly. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Torsten

ssgumby, I've been using eCommerce Templates for several years now, so I can understand your comments. Honestly, ANY cart system will have it's own quirks.

ECT has made a lot of strides recently with SEO, we do quite well with it using the new SEO features. One thing I love about them is they are constantly improving and updating the software. The support staff is incredible, virtually around the clock support. Glitches/Bugs are addressed right away, often in hours.

I've tried quite a few carts for other projects, none (in the same price range) come close in regards of support.

But every situation is going to be different, especially with regards to the skill/knowledge level of the user.

T_Miller, I could not agree more with regards to the support.
