Hi Guys,

Does anyone know what the average US wholesalers (distributors/importers) and main street retailers in home hardware eg plastic goods markup is ?

Here in New Zealand they are quite high at 100% and 100%.
This makes it hard for manufacturers to sell their products though mainstream retailers as one has to sell to distributors first so there are 2 100% markups involved. Which can make the end user price seem quite dear !

I have heard that in the US and EU markups are much lower. Does anyone have any idea of these markups ?

Whatever makes a buck.

Cutthroat. Go as low as you can until it hurts. Then weep because the margins are so slim.

In reality it depends on the market and the intended customer: what they are willing to pay. We live in a consumer society these days... markups are diminishing everywhere... and the recession is not helping.
